Game One: Freeland 11, Hemlock 1

The Lady Falcons opened up the 2023 season at home against Hemlock with a 11-1 victory. Ashley Collier secured the win on the mound with 7 strikeouts. Offensive leaders were Madeline McDonald with 3 hits and Zoey Markey and Jenna Kowalski with 2 hits apiece.

Game Two: Freeland 13, Hemlock 6

Freeland swept the doubleheader with a come from behind 13-6 win in 5 innings as the sun disappeared from the sky. Isabel Cumper recorded her first Varsity win on the mound. Isabel also was outstanding offensively leading the team with 3 extra base hits and 4 rbis. Brynn Jaime, Ashley Collier, Zoey Markey, and Jenna Kowalski added multiple hits in the offensive effort.

Saturday 4-8-23

Freeland High hosted an early season softball tournament for 6 teams, with 5 of the teams with preseason votes in the top 10 in the State of Michigan. The high caliper teams did not disappoint with great softball all day long.

The lady falcons proved worthy by playing all three games down to the last play of the game.

Individual highlights included good pitching performances by Ashley Collier and Isabel Cumper, with timely hitting by Grace Deshone, Zoey Markey, and Evelynn Rybicki throughout the day.

Freeland is now 3-2 for the season.

Tuesday 4-11-23

Freeland 12, Beal City 2

Freeland secured a run rule victory in 6 innings. Avery Mantei and Jenna Kowalski ignited the offense with back-to-back doubles in the third, while those at bats were soon followed by home runs by Isabel Cumper and Madeline McDonald.  Zoey Markey added a triple later in the contest and Madeline added another home run. Ashley Collier secured the win in the pitching circle with a complete game and 14 strikeouts.

Freeland 13, Beal City 3

Freeland secured a run rule victory in 6 innings. Jenna Irrer and Evelynn Rybicki led the offense with multiple hits in the contest. Evelynn Rybicki added two home runs, Jenna Irrer 1 home run, and Madeline McDonald with 1 home run.  Isabel Cumper secured the win in the pitching circle with a complete game and 13 strikeouts.

Freeland is now 5-2 for the season and back in action at home Wednesday in a conference double header against the Bearcats of Bridgeport.

Thursday 4-27-23

Freeland 16, Ovid Elsie 1

Freeland beat Ovid Elsie 16-1 to start off the doubleheader.  The lady falcon's offense was led by Jenna Kowalski, Zoey Markey, Evelynn Rybicki, Isabel Cumper, Madeline McDonald, and Avery Mantei with multiple hits. Cumper, Rybicki, Markey, and Mantei had multiple rbi's.  Ashley Collier earned the win in the pitching circle with 5 strikeouts in a 4-inning run game.

Freeland 15, Ovid Elsie 4

Freeland secured the win in game two of the night with a 15-4.  Madeline McDonald and Grace Deshone led the offense with three hits respectively in the contest.  Jenna Irrer and Madeline McDonald tallied 4 and 3 rbi's respectively. Cadence Swartz secured the win in the pitching circle with a 5-inning run rule game.

Freeland is now 5-1 in conference play and 16-3 overall record for the season and back in action on the road in a conference double header Tuesday against Bay City John Glenn.

Tuesday 5-23-23

Freeland 10, Swan Valley 0

Freeland beat Swan Valley 10-0 to start off the conference doubleheader.  The lady falcon's offense was led by Zoey Markey and Jenna Kowalski with three hits apiece. Evelynn Rybicki and Grace Deshone added two hits apiece.  Rybicki hit a home run as well. Ashley Collier took the win in the pitching circle with a run rule complete game and 5 strikeouts.

Freeland 11, Swan Valley 0

Freeland continued their domination in the second game of the doubleheader with a 11-0 win.  Jenna Kowalski, Isabel Cumper, and Ashley Collier led the offense with three hits each.  Isabel Cumper took the win in the pitching circle with a run rule complete game and 8 strikeouts.

Freeland is now 12-2 in conference play and 26-9 overall record for the season and back in action Thursday with a nonconference double header at home against Shepherd.

Freeland 4, Swan Valley 1
Freeland Varsity Falcons Takes 4-1 Victory Over Swan Valley High

Freeland Varsity Falcons defeated Swan Valley High 4-1 on Friday.

Freeland Varsity Falcons got things started in the first inning.  Freeland Varsity Falcons scored one run when Zoey Markey singled.

Isabel Cumper earned the victory in the circle for Freeland Varsity Falcons. The pitcher surrendered one run on five hits over seven innings, striking out 11 and walking one.

Freeland Varsity Falcons smacked one home run on the day. Ashley Collier had a dinger in the sixth inning.

Freeland Varsity Falcons totaled seven hits.  Markey and Addie Steffen all managed multiple hits for Freeland Varsity Falcons.  Steffen and Markey each managed two hits to lead Freeland Varsity Falcons.

Freeland 4, Bullock Creek 2

Freeland Varsity Falcons Defeats Bullock Creek Varsity Lancers, 4-2

Freeland Varsity Falcons defeated Bullock Creek Varsity Lancers 4-2 on Friday.

Freeland centerfielder Evelynn Rybicki fired up the lady falcons and their defense in the 1 st by throwing out a would be run from Bullock Creek with a cannon from the outfield to home plate allowing Jenna Kowalski to make the tag. 

Freeland Varsity Falcons got on the board in the second inning.  Ashley Collier hit a solo homer.

Freeland Varsity Falcons tallied three runs in the third inning.  The big inning was thanks to a fielder's choice by Collier and a double by Isabel Cumper.

Collier was the winning pitcher for Freeland Varsity Falcons. Collier allowed four hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Freeland Varsity Falcons tallied one home run on the day. Collier went deep in the second inning.

Jenna Kowalski led Freeland Varsity Falcons with two hits in four at bats.

Freeland 1, Garber 0 Regional Semifinal

Freeland Lady Falcons used great pitching and superb defense to secure the win at Cadillac field. Isabel Cumper led the falcons on the mound throwing 6 complete innings and surrendering no hits. Ashley Collier came in the 7th inning to close the game, giving up 1 hit thru the 8th inning. Ashley Collier also found the lone run for the green and white with a solo blast to deep centerfield in the top of the 8th inning with one out.  Freeland is now 31-10 for the year.

Gaylord 4, Freeland 2 Regional Final 

Freeland fell in the regional final today to the #1 team in Division 2 at Cadillac. Ashley Collier led the lady falcons in the pitching circle giving a second outstanding performance in the circle for the day, going 5 innings, surrendering 4 runs. Isabel Cumper pitched in relief holding Gaylord to no more runs. Freeland led the game in the fourth 2-1, before  giving  the lead back to Gaylord. Freeland's offense had five hits in the game, led by Ashley Collier's two run home run.

Freeland finishes the season 31-11.

Wednesday 5-17-23

Freeland 2, Garber 4

Freeland lost to Garber 4-2 to start off the important conference doubleheader.  The lady falcon's offense was led by Evelynn Rybicki with multiple hits and a home run.  Ashley Collier thru a good game but took the loss in the pitching circle.

Freeland 10, Garber 9

Freeland rallied in the second game of the doubleheader with a 10-9 walk off win.  Evelynn Rybicki led the offense with three hits. including a double.    Deshone, Irrer, Mantei, and Markey also had multiple hits. Avery Mantei's clutch base running scored the final run in the bottom of the seventh.  Isabel Cumper took the win in relief in the pitching circle.

Freeland is now 10-2 in conference play and 23-6 overall record for the season and back in action Thursday in a nonconference double header at Midland Dow.

Thursday 5-18-23

Freeland 8, Midland Dow 1

Freeland beat Midland Dow 8-1 to start off the nonconference doubleheader.  The lady falcon's offense was led by Zoey Markey, Grace Deshone, and Jenna Kowalski with multiple hits.  Ashley Collier took the win in the pitching circle with a complete game and 8 strikeouts.

Freeland 8, Midland Dow 10

Freeland lost in the second game of the doubleheader with a 10-8.  Evelynn Rybicki, Zoey Markey, Brynn Jaime, and Isabel Cumper led the offense with multiple hits. Rybicki had a double and triple to keep traffic on the base paths.   Freeland used game two to rest some key players and was proud of the effort on back-to-back nights of competition. Isabel Cumper took the loss in the pitching circle.

Freeland is now 10-2 in conference play and 24-7 overall record for the season and back in action Saturday in the second top ten matchup of the week for the falcons with a nonconference double header at Chelsea.

Freeland 1, Standish Sterling 9

Freeland lost to Standish Sterling 9-1 to start off the nonconference doubleheader.  The lady falcon's offense was led by Zoey Markey and Ashley Collier with multiple hits.  Zoey Markey added a home run. The Freeland defense was less than sharp, giving up too many unearned runs late in the game to give the team a chance.

Freeland rallied in the second game of the doubleheader with a 11-10 win.  Jenna Kowalski led the offense by going 5-5 in the contest, including a double.   Rybicki, Collier, and McDonald also had multiple hits. Jenna Irrer had a key sacrifice bunt in the 7th inning to set up the game winning hit by Kowalski that scored Addie Steffen.  Isabel Cumper took the win in relief in the pitching circle.

Freeland is now 9-1 in conference play and 22-5 overall record for the season and back in action Wednesday in a conference double header at Garber.

Freeland 11, Birch Run 1

Freeland beat Birch Run 11-1 to start off the doubleheader.  The lady falcon's offense was led by Evelynn Rybicki, Isabel Cumper, and Madeline McDonald with multiple hits and rbi's.  Isabel Cumper earned the win in the pitching circle with 8 strikeouts in a 5-inning run rule game.

Freeland 11, Birch Run 1

Freeland secured the win in game two of the night with a 11-1, 7 inning victory.  Jenna Kowalski led the offense with four hits in the contest.  Madeline McDonald added 6 rbi's including a grand slam home run. Ashley Collier secured the win in the pitching circle.

Freeland is now 9-1 in conference play and 20-3 overall record for the season and back in action Wednesday in a nonconference double header against New Lothrup.

Tuesday 4-25-23

Freeland 0, Frankenmuth 1

Freeland lost to Frankenmuth 1-0.  Frankenmuth scored one run in the sixth inning.  The lady falcon's offense created offensive opportunities four times but couldn't find the key hit.    Brynn Jaime led the team with hits.   Ashley Collier

 was awesome in the pitching circle but took the loss.

Freeland 5, Frankenmuth 4

Freeland secured the win in game two of the night with a 5-4 come from behind victory.  Jenna Kowalski and Evelynn Rybicki led the offense with three and two hits respectively in the contest.  The biggest hit of the game came in the bottom of the 8th with bases loaded by Madeline McDonald, as she singled in the game winning run in walk off fashion. Ashley Collier secured the win in relief in the pitching circle with a 3-inning shut down performance.

Freeland is now 5-1 in conference play and 14-3 overall for the season and back in action at home in a nonconference double header Thursday against Ovid Elsie.

Freeland 10, Meridian 0

Freeland beat the 11-2 Meridian Mustangs by a score of 10-0 in the first side of the Thursday night doubleheader.  The lady falcon's offense grinded runs in all game.    Zoey Markey, Evelynn Rybicki, Jenna Kowalski, and Brynn Jaime led the team with multiple hits and rbi's.   Isabel Cumper secured the win in the pitching circle with a 5-inning run rule shutout no hitter performance and 10 strikeouts.

Freeland 15, Meridian 5

Freeland secured the second win of the night with a 15-5 victory.  Isabel Cumper led the offense with three hits in the contest.  Evelynn Rybicki, Jenna Irrer, Jenna Kowalski, Madeline McDonald, and Cadence Swartz added multiple hit games for Freeland. Cadence Swartz secured the win in the pitching circle with a 6-inning run rule performance.

Freeland is now 4-0 in conference play and 13-2 overall for the season and back in action at Frankenmuth in a conference double header Tuesday.
