FNV Hockey Opens With a Win

The FNV Griffins started their season out with a 6-2 win over the ETA Legion on Saturday afternoon. Nouvel Sophmore Sean O’Grady lead the way for the Griffins with a hat trick and 4 points on the night. Freeland Freshman Tristan Pohl scored his first career goal as a Griffin. 6 players ended up with multiple points on the night. Freeland Senior Ryan Quackenbush got the Win for the Griffins. He had 22 saves on 24 shots.

Griffins Open 2023 With A Victory

The FNV Griffins (5-3-0) skated to a 8-2 victory on Wednesday night over the Mid-Michigan Raptors. Leading the way for the Griffins was Senior defensemen Chris Morgan (Freeland) who added 1 goal along with 3 assists. Other scorers were Joey LeFerve (Nouvel CC) 2 goals, 1 assist. Peyton Essex (Freeland) 1 goal, 2 assists. Sean O’Grady (Nouvel CC) 2 goals. Tristan Pohl (Freeland) 1 goal, Luke Anderson (Reese) 1 goal, Thomas Jacoby (Freeland) 1 assist. The Griffins were backstopped by Freshmen Goaltender Cayden Geurts who made 19/21 stops. The Griffins return to action this weekend when the head over to Muskegon to participate in their annual showcase.

FNV Falls to Chemics

The Griffins came into Wednesday night vs. Midland High looking for different results from the weekend. After going 0-2 on the weekend in Muskegon, the Griffins looked to rebound vs the Chemics. Midland got on the board first, but Tristan Pohl, assisted by Peyton Essex and Brady Kingsbury, found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1. But after the 1st period the Griffins were behind 3-1. In the second, the Chemics kept the pressure on the Griffins and scored three more times, while  Joey Leferve scored for the Griffins. The final score of the game was 7-2 and the Griffins (5-6-0) will head to Birmingham on Saturday looking to snap a 3 game losing streak.
