REGIONAL CHAMPIONS

For the first time in school history our girls are regional champions! In difficult conditions and on a long course the girls played with grit and determination and won by 32 strokes! Alexis Heinz is the individual regional champion shooting an 81! Averie Pumford and Reese Conlee joined Alexis in the top five making the all-regional team! Natalie Trudo and Gia Johnson both finished inside the top 20, to help secure the historic win for our school. Congratulations to the whole team!
Freeland Continues Dominance

New school record! The girls golf team played in the third TVC match of the year and shot a new school record with a 337! Led by Averie Pumford’s even par 71 the team produced seven personal best scores on route to the new record. Scoring on the day was Alexis Heinz with an 86, Gia Johnson and Lilly Spencer matching each other with a personal bests and scores of 90. Lauryn Myers, Julia Kretz, Grace Belongia, Grace Erickson, and Lizzi Robbins all record a personal best on the day. Some of the same girls had one the day before and played even better the next day. Next up, The Dick’s Sporting Goods Invitational at the Glenbrier in Perry.
Girls Golf Captures Title

Kicking off a busy week of three tournaments, our Lady Falcons went back to Valley View GC for the Heritage Invitational and won the event shooting a season best 347! Just 6 shots off the school record the girls played some excellent golf and left some room for improvement along the way. Averie Pumford led the Falcons with a 79 good for 2nd place overall, and Alexis Heinz finished 3rd overall shooting a personal best 80! Reese Conlee finished in the top ten with a ninth place finish and Natalie Trudo finished off the scoring on the day. We were able to field two teams in the event today and Julia Kretz, Lizzi Robbins, Grace Belongia, and Lauryn Myers all came in with a personal best score with Lauryn breaking 100 for her second time in competition. The girls will compete in the third TVC event of the year tomorrow at our home course of Twin Oaks and will look to continue their great play.
Girls Golf Update, 8-23-24 to 9-4-24

8/23/24:
Our Falcon golfers traveled to Currie West GC today to compete in the Frank Altimore Invitational hosted by Midland Dow. The girls played some very good golf in a loaded field and finished third as a team shooting a season low 348! Averie Pumford scored with another top ten performance finishing 4th with a 75, and Alexis Heinz joined her on the top ten list finishing 10th with an 87. Reese Conlee scored with an 89 and Gia Johnson scored with a 97. Natalie Trudo also competed on the day, and in a field of 65 golfers all our girls finished well inside the top half of the leaderboard. Next week we will continue league play, and end the week heading to the Patriot Cup in Frankenmuth.

In the second league event of the year the Lady Falcons traveled to Crooked Creek and finished the day in first place with a 360! Averie Pumford continued her dominant play with a 75, while Reese Conlee showed great consistency shooting an 87. Alexis Heinze scored with a solid 95, and Gia Johnson and Natalie Trudo tied with the final score of 103. After two events the girls have a commanding lead in the TVC and will travel to the Fortress in Frankemuth to compete in the Patriot Cup.
8/29/24:
Competing in the Patriot Cup, one of the state’s premier events, our Lady Falcons played well and shot a 374! Our score was good for 11th place, but third place amongst small schools. Eight of the teams finishing in front of us were Division 1 schools. Averie Pumford led the way with a 79 and top ten finish in a field with many of the state’s best players. Alexis Heinz, Reese Conlee, and Lauryn Myers all scored for the team today. The long weekend will allow us to get some rest before heading to Valley View GC for the Viking Invitational next Wednesday.
9/4/24
Our Lady Falcons traveled to Valley View GC to compete in the Viking Invite and took home first place with a team score 365! Averie Pumford was the individual medalist with a 71! Her best round of the season, and had a little bit of everything in it…6 pars, 5 birdies, and an eagle! Natalie Trudo scored with her personal best and a 5th place finish with a 94! Gia Johnson continued her excellent play with a 99, and Reese Conlee finished the scoring with a 101. We ended up sending two teams to this tournament and our second team finished in fifth place led by Lilly Spencer’s personal best 96, and also got scores from Lauryn Myers, Lizzie Robbins’ personal best 115, and Grace Belongia personal best 114. Freshman Julia Kretz played a great round and shot a personal best 111! It was a great day to be a Falcon. The girls now get a few days off to rest and practice before competing three times next week.
Girl's Golf Host Invitational

The lady Falcon golfers hosted their invitational at Vassar Golf Club, and finished second shooting a 379. Averie led the way finishing third as an individual shooting 81, followed by Alexis Heinz who finished fifth with a 95, Gia Johnson recorded her first ever top ten finish with a 98, and Natalie Trudo rounded out the scoring for Freeland shooting 105. Lilly Spencer and Lauryn Myers also competed for Freeland on the day. We were also able to put a second team in the tournament and Julia Kretz, Grace Erickson, Grace Belongia, Lizzi Robins, and Jaiden Ossana competed on the second team. It was perfect weather for golf, and the tournament was a success.
Girls Golf Captures First TVC Jamboree

The Lady Falcons started TVC league play at the Field GC in Ithaca and won the event shooting a 364 and beat their closest competitor by 36 strokes! Averia Pumford finished first at the event shooting a 79, Reese Conlee shot an 85, Alexis Heinz shot 99, and Lilly Spencer completed the scoring with a 101. Gia Johnson and Natalie Trudo both played and shot 102 and 104 respectively. All six girls sit in All-League positions after the first of four 18 hole matches. The girls will compete two more times this week. First at our own invitational held at Vassar CC, before heading to Midland to play in the Frank Altimore Invite hosted by Midland Dow at Currie West.
Girls Golf Off To A Great Start

The Freeland girls golfers started the season with a fantastic third place team finish in the opening tournament of the year. This event is a two person scramble and the team of Averie Pumford and Reese Conlee took first place shooting a 2 under 70! Alexis Heinz and Natalie Trudo finish tenth shooting a 79, and Lilly Spencer and Gia Johnson combined to shoot a 92. Great jobs girls!
