The Freshmen Falcons hosted Division 2 Flushing High School on Thursday September 21 st and
pulled out an exciting 24-16 victory over the Raiders.
The Falcons would start the game with the ball and would eat up almost 6 minutes and 30
seconds of the clock when Ryan Watkins would punch it in the endzone from 2 yards away.
Watkins would add the 2-point conversion and the Falcons would lead 8-0. Flushing would
answer with a touchdown of their own in the 2 nd quarter and they added the 2-point conversion
making it an 8-8 game at the Half. The 3 rd quarter was a back-and-forth battle, and the score
would remain 8-8 going into the 4 th quarter. Flushing would get a touchdown at the 9:30 mark of
the 4th and take a 16-8 lead. The Freshman Falcons would not quit and battled to score a
touchdown on a Drew Darrow 26-yard pass to Robbie Mularz. Nico Goodenough would add the
2-point conversion to tie the game once again at 16. The Falcons would get the ball back and
would score the winning touchdown on a Nico Goodenough run from 4 yards away. Gage
Sommers would add the 2-point conversion making it 24-16 with 1.2 seconds left to go in the
game. The Falcons would finish the game with 226 total yards offense.
The Falcon Offense was led by Nico Goodenough who had 14 carries for 101 yards, Ryan
Watkins would have 15 carries for 78 yards, and Antonio Williams would add 3 carries for 36
yards. Drew Darrow would go 6 of 10 passing for 115 yards. Robbie Mularz finished with 4
catches for 89 yards.
The Falcon Defense was led by Nolan Cunningham who had 5 tackles with 2 of them being for
loss of yards, Carter Williamson would have 4 tackles as did Colton Cunningham. The Defense
held Flushing to -13 yards rushing in the 4 th quarter that set up the Falcon Offense to get the win.
The 3-2 Freshmen Falcons go on the road Wednesday September 27 th to face Division 2 Bay City
Western High School with a 6:00pm kickoff.
