The Freshmen Falcons hosted the Clare Pioneers on Thursday August 28, 2023, and secured a
14-8 victory. The Falcons defense would open the game forcing Clare to punt on their first
drive. The Falcons would march down the field eating up almost 5 minutes of the clock when
Ryan Watkins would run the ball in from 3 yards out. The 2-point conversion of a Darrow to
Mularz pass was successful and the Falcons would lead 8-0. Clare would answer with a 3-yard
run of their own in the 2 nd quarter and the try for 2 was successful. The score would be tied
going into halftime 8-8.
The Falcons received the ball in the 3 rd quarter and would grind out a 9:23 drive to take the lead.
Ryan Watkins scored on a 2-yard run and the 2-point attempt failed. The 4 th quarter would be a
back-and-forth battle with no scoring and the Falcons would claim the victory 14-8.
Leaders for the Falcons were Ryan Watkins had 16 carries for 83 yards and 2 touchdowns, Drew
Darrow would complete 2 of 3 passes for 25 yards and a completion to Robbie Mularz for a 2-
point conversion. Defensively the Falcons were led by Jace Lindauer and Colton Cunningham
who each had 5 tackles, Antonio Williams had an interception. The Falcon Defense held Clare
to just 70 yards total offense.
The Freshmen Falcons play home again Wednesday August 30 th against rival Swan Valley
4:30pm kickoff.
