The Freshmen Falcons took a short trip to Division 2 Midland High on October 13 th and came
away with a big win 41-24. The Falcon offense would show its dominance early when it took
the opening possession 60 yards using almost 9 minutes of the clock for a touchdown.
Quarterback Max Heyn would cap the drive off with a 5-yard touchdown run, Kellen East would
add the 2-point conversion making it 8-0 Freeland. The Falcons defense would force a 3 and out
and the Falcons offense would take over again with 1:13 to play in the first quarter. The Falcons
would use a ball control offense to drive 65 yards using over 10 minutes of the clock, when
Kellen East would plunge in from 3 yards out for the touchdown. The 2-point conversion failed,
and the Falcons led 14-0. The Falcon defense would come up big on Midland High’s next drive
when Ross Farrell would intercept a pass and return it 44 yards to the one-yard line setting up the
Falcon offense. On the very next play Keenan Cooper would walk in for the touchdown, the 2-
point conversion failed, and the Falcons led 20-0. Midland High would strike just before
halftime to make it 20-8 at the half. Midland High would take the first possession of the 2 nd half
and march right down on the Falcons to score a touchdown to cut the lead to 20-16. The Falcon
offense would return the favor though on the next drive marching 50 yards and using over 5
minutes of the clock when Kennan Cooper would scamper in from 7-yards away for the
touchdown and East would add the 2-point conversion. The Falcon defense would show up
again when they would force a fumble and it was recovered by Liam Rump. The Falcon offense
this time would need only 2 plays to find the endzone when Alex Schuette would race in from 17
yards away, the 2-point conversion failed, and the Falcons led 34-16. The Falcon defense would
come out on Midland High’s next possession and yet again force a fumble this time recovered by
Luke Szczepanik and he would scoop and score returning it 25 yards for the touchdown. Nevan
Malacara would add the PAT making it 41-16. Midland High would add a late touchdown pass
to make the final score 41-24.
Offensively the Falcons were led by Kellen East who had 14 carries for 50 yards, and Nick Haas
who had 7 carries for 49 yards. Keenan Cooper had 2 touchdowns on his 4 carries for 19 yards.
Max Heyn would be 2 of 4 passing for 17 yards.
The Falcon defense was led by Keenan Cooper who had 5 tackles, Parker Lentner would have 4
tackles, Ross Farrell would have a INT to go along with his 2 tackles, Liam Rump recovered a
fumble to go with his 4 tackles, and Luke Szczepanik would have a fumble recovery return for a
touchdown.
The Freshmen Falcons push their record to 7-0-1 with the win and go into the final week of the
season when they host another big school in Division 2 Milford High School on Thursday
October 20 th kickoff is at 4:30pm.
