Oct 20, 2022

The Freshmen Falcons hosted the Division 2 Milford Mavericks on Thursday October 20 th and
finished their season on a great note winning 30-25. Milford would travel just under 2 hours to
play the Falcons and what a game it was. The Mavericks started the scoring after recovering the
opening kickoff and 2 minutes and 7 seconds later they were in the endzone, and the Falcons
found themselves in a 6-0 hole. The young Falcons would not panic though and on their ensuing
drive would take over 6 minutes off the clock when Nick Haase would score from 4-yards out.
Max Heyn would connect with Tucker Hileman for the 2-point conversion and the Falcons led 8-
6. Milford and the Falcons would exchange two more scores each in the 2 nd quarter. The
Falcons would score on a 46-yard run by Haas and a 6-yard run by Karson Worth. The Falcons
converted one of the 2-point tries when Max Heyn would plunge into the endzone. The Falcons
led at halftime 22-18. The second half would be a defensive battle until the 4 th quarter when Max
Heyn would scamper 78 yards for a touchdown to put the Falcons up 28-18 and Haas would add
the 2-point conversion to make it 30-18. Milford would score on their next drive to pull within 5
points at 30-25. The Falcon offense would be able to run out the rest of the 4 th quarter securing
the victory and their undefeated season.

The Falcon offense was led by Max Heyn would have 7 carries for 123 yards and was 2 of 3
passing for 47 yards. Nick Haas would end the game with 10 carries for 117 yards and 2
touchdowns and a 2-point conversion. The Falcon offensive line which consisted of Bryson
Lynch, Zach Clark, Nevan Malacara, Liam Rump, Mason Kozumplik, and Jake Steffin; along
with tight ends Tucker Hileman and Ross Farrell did a great job opening holes for the Falcon
Offense as the team finished with 336 yards rushing for the game.

Defensively the Falcons were led by Alex Schuette, Parker Lentner, Jayel Garth, Keenan
Cooper, and Karson Worth who all had 3 tackles each. The Falcon’s secondary was tested as the
Mavericks brought a strong passing attack, but the Falcons held strong and played well.

The Freshmen Falcons finished the season undefeated with an 8-0-1 record. They had some big
accomplishments this year playing 3 Division 2 schools and beating 2 of them and tying the 3 rd .
They also were able to knock off 2 Junior Varsity opponents in Ithaca and Birch Run. The future
of Freeland Falcon Football is bright and I for one cannot wait until next season to see how this
group progresses.
