The Freshmen Falcons played host to Division 2 Midland Dow High School last Thursday
September 8 th and held their own playing the much larger school to an 8-8 tie. The Falcons
would flex their muscle on Defense and open the scoring by recording a safety on a quarterback
sack by Jake Clawson. The Falcons would lead 2-0. The game would be a defensive back and
forth as the offenses for both sides sputtered. The score remained the same through halftime and
the 3 rd quarter. At the 5:40 mark of the 4 th quarter Tucker Mika would find the endzone for the
Falcons, the try for 2 was unsuccessful. The Falcons would lead 8-0. The Dow High Chargers
were not done though as they took the ensuing drive down the field and would score a
touchdown of their own and covert the 2-point conversion to make it 8-8 with 3:19 left to play in
the game. The two teams would exchange turnovers in the final 3 minutes and the game would
end in a 8-8 tie.
The Falcon’s Defense was led by Austin Hare, and Nick Haas who each had 5 tackles. Alex
Schuette would have an interception and Jake Clawson would have the quarterback sack for the
safety and 4 tackles on the day. The Falcons Defense would yield only 36 yards on 32 plays to
the Chargers. It was a great defensive game for the Falcons.
The Falcon offense would finish with 168 yards on the ground and 48 yards through the air.
Leading rusher for the Falcons was Karson Worth who had 8 carries for 46 yards. Max Heyn
would have 4 carries for 44 yards and Kellen East would have 12 carries for 43 yards. Tucker
Hileman would have 2 catches for 48 yards.
The Falcons (2-0-1) hit the road this Thursday September 15 th to take on the Ithaca
Yellowjackets JV team game time set for 6:00pm.
