A rainy Thursday night set the stage for the Freeland Falcons to travel to Gladwin to take on the host Flying G's.

Gladwin came into the contest with home field and just a single loss on the season, but the Falcons were up for the challenge.

Scoring opened up just 7 mins into the game when junior Derek Prast placed a perfect ball to fellow junior Owen Senkowski to jump out front early.

In the 20th minute it was Prast again who took a corner kick and a deflection off a Gladwin defender for the 2 goal lead.

The Falcons went into the break up 2-0 and looking to close out the last 40 mins.

Gladwin had other plans notching their first goal in the 44th minute.  The Falcons remained aggressive and earned two PK's that were both converted  by Prast in the 53rd and 59th minute.

The accomplished Flying G's would continue to fight, finding their 2nd and 3rd goals off of set pieces.  The score was 4-3 with 8 minutes remaining.

Tensions rose and both teams gave maximum effort, but as time ticked away it was Freeland when ended up victorious and hoisted their 3rd consecutive District Championship!!

The Falcons are back in action Tuesday as the travel south to take on Flint Powers at 6pm
