Girls Varsity Golf Competes at the State Finals

The Freeland Falcons girls golf team will be headed back to the state tournament for the 6th year in a row! Averie Pumford, Reese Conlee, Alexis Heinz, Lauryn Myers, and Lilly Spencer played in the regional at Pine River CC and finished second overall shooting 378! Averie was the individual regional champion shooting 77 to win the honor for the second time in her career.

Averie Pumford, Alexis Heinz, Reese Conlee, Lauryn Myers, Lilly Spencer and Faith Kloha traveled to Grand Valley State University to compete at the division 3 state finals. In round one on Friday the girls overcame some early jitters to shoot a 394. On day two, and in worse conditions than the previous day, the girls went with a goal in mind and shot a 384 to finish in 11th pace overall. Reese and Alexis both finished in the top 30 in a field with 108 total golfers. All in all, it was a great experience and the future is bright for Freeland golf.
