August 21

After several rain outs our varsity golf team finally got on the course playing in the Greater Genesee County Invite at the Flint Elks Golf Course.  The team finished in 8th place shooting a 415.  Playing on the day were junior Averie Pumford, freshman Alexis Heinz, junior Lilly Spencer, and sophomores Reese Conlee, and Natalie Trudo.  Early in the round the girls showed the effects of not being able to get out on the course and compete, but late in the round began to show significant improvements to play well enough for a top ten finish.

August 25

After another rain out midweek the girls traveled to Midland to play in the Dow Invite at Currie West Golf Course.  Shooting a season best 372 the girls would place ahead of rival Frankenmuth for a fourth place finish.  Averie Pumford shot a 77 good for a top ten third place finish, Alexis Heinz shot 91 on stroke off her first career top ten finish, Reese Conlee scored with a 100, and Lauryn Myers would collect her first ever varsity score with a 104.  Natalie Trudo and Lilly Spencer both play on the day and respectively shot a 112 and 117.

August 30

Competing in our first league match of the season the girls traveled to Hidden Oaks in St. Louis where they would walk away victorious with an eleven stroke lead over Frankemuth  heading into the next matchday 2.  Averie Pumford finished first overall, Reese Conlee and Alexis Heinz are tied in third place on the overall individual leaderboard, and Lauryn Myer finished the scoring for Freeland on the day.  Gia Johnson and Natalie Trudo both played on the day, and all the girls will have put themselves in good position to collect All-League honors at the end of the season with continued good play.

August 31

Playing back to back days of 18 holes competitive golf can be very taxing, and traveling to the Fortress only makes it tougher.  The girls played very well finishing in 8th place against some of the state’s elite teams and players.  Averie Pumford finished in 10th as an individual shooting a 79.  Alexis Heinz continues the fine start to her freshman season posting another scoring round, while Reese Conlee and Lilly Spencer finished the scoring for the team on the day.  Also competing on for the Falcons was Lauryn Myer.  The girls will return to varsity action on Friday September 8th when they host their own invitational at Vassar Country Clu
