The Freeland baseball team opened its season with a split at home against Clare winning game one 11-1 in five innings, before dropping game two 3-0.
Daniel Duley earned the win in game one throwing four innings allowing just one unearned run and struck out 8. Carter McLaren threw one shutout inning in relief. Brady Shavrnoch led the offense going 2-for-3 with 3 RBI, Daniel Duley was 2-for-2 with a walk and RBI while Jacob Clawson and Mason Fleming each added a hit and 2 RBI.
In game two Connor Lasceski took the loss despite five strong innings allowing three runs on six hits, striking out three. Colin Dee added two shutout innings and Shavrnoch had a double for Freeland.
The Falcons are 1-1 and open TVC play at Birch Run Tuesday.
